How we fact-check viral claims

1. We identify the exact claim being shared.
2. We look for the original source: official statements, documents, app or company pages, and trusted reporting.
3. We rate the claim as True, False, Misleading or Unverified and explain why, with links.

Corrections

If we get something wrong, we fix it as soon as possible and note the change at the end of the article when the error was significant.

To report an error, use the Contact page and choose “Correction / fact-check request”, with the article link and the correct information.
